With more powerful hardware, improved haptic feedback systems, and high-end software, VR games are no longer just an interest but a mainstream phenomenon captivating millions of users worldwide.
This year, some groundbreaking VR game releases have already been released, but the best is yet to come. The upcoming games promise to deliver more engaging and realistic experiences with diverse themes.
Let’s dive into the most anticipated VR releases for different demographics and explore some unique offerings that are following.
Puzzle Sculpt
Puzzle Sculpt, the highly anticipated puzzle game, is set to make its debut on Apple Vision Pro next month, marking an exciting milestone for both the platform and its developer, Schell Games.
Known for their successful VR titles like Among Us VR, Schell Games brings their expertise to Apple’s mixed reality headset with this innovative and engaging puzzle experience.
The reveal trailer showcases that Puzzle Sculpt will have over 70 puzzles and 12 hours of gameplay, which is enough content for puzzle enthusiasts. As players progress, they unlock a variety of collectable ‘Deco Objects’, ranging from farm animals like cows and pigs to plants such as cacti and various fruits.
These collectables can then be placed around the player’s real-world environment, adding a mixed-reality element to the game.
Astro Hunters
Another exciting VR game that will launch in September is Astro Hunters, developed by Wenkly Studio, known for titles like Survival Nation and Elven Assassin.
It’s a PvPvE extraction shooter game that has already made its debut on Steam and is set to launch on the Meta Quest platform next month. The game offers cross-platform support for online multiplayer, enhancing its appeal to a broad audience.
In Astro Hunters VR, players become members of the Hunters mercenary group, tasked with scavenging across various planets. The game encourages a strategic risk-or-reward approach, allowing players to either collaborate with others for survival or betray them for superior loot.
UNDERDOGS
Ever since the announcement trailer, One Hamsa’s UNDERDOGS has promised a unique blend of style and substance. With its stylish visuals and gritty soundscape, the game sets itself apart.
UNDERDOGS is set in a dystopian future and follows two brothers fleeing an AI overlord. Their only refuge is New Brakka, a city governed by humans.
To enter, they must battle through mech fighting pits. Between battles, players engage in activities like buying parts and repairs, adding a strategic layer. The game offers two distinct arenas, each with unique challenges and enemies, ensuring varied gameplay experiences.
The game excels in offering diverse and impactful variables for each run. Players can unlock a wide array of perks, weapons, upgrades, and add-ons, allowing for deep tactical synergies. With the Skirmish mode, players can experiment with different builds, enhancing replayability.
UNDERGODS will launch on September 5th and will be available on PC VR, Quest 2, Quest Pro, and Quest 3.
Just Dance
Just Dance VR is an exciting new addition to the virtual reality gaming landscape, set to launch on Meta Quest headsets on October 15. Originally a Pico exclusive, the project has been taken over by a new partner following Pico’s workforce reduction and halt in releasing Pico 4 in the United States.
Just Dance VR will be available on Quest 2, Quest 3, and Quest Pro, promising an engaging experience with a mix of original tracks and popular hits.
The game comes with 25 songs, including classics like “Don’t Stop Me Now” by Queen and modern hits such as “Bad Liar” by Selena Gomez.
This diverse playlist ensures there’s something for everyone. In addition, players will be able to enjoy a social hub featuring Ready Player Me avatars and an apartment space for mini-games like basketball. This allows for interaction with up to six players, fostering a community feel.
VR Casino Games
As virtual reality technology continues to evolve, so too does its application in the world of gaming. One of the most exciting developments in 2024 is the rise of VR casino games.
VR casino games are growing hugely in popularity and there is an exciting set of VR games from a range of new online casinos coming out in 2024 and beyond.
Among the most anticipated VR casino games are High Roller VR, Poker Face Pro VR and Roulette Royale VR. They are designed to provide an authentic gambling experience, complete with realistic graphics, lifelike sound effects, and interactive environments that mimic the atmosphere of a land-based casino.
Players can walk through virtual casino floors, interact with other players, and even chat with dealers, making the experience more social.
As you can see, the second half of 2024 promises to be an exciting time for the VR gaming world. With games that cater to different player preferences and demographics, there’s never been a better time to dive into virtual reality.
