I started downloading Fortnite on my PC about an hour ago, and it's only at 20%. My internet speed is decent (100 Mbps), and other games download way faster. Is this normal for Fortnite? Anyone else experience super slow download times? Any tips to speed it up?
Fortnite downloads can be slow af sometimes, even with decent internet speeds. A few things you can try:
- Use a wired ethernet connection instead of wifi if possible. More stable and consistent speeds.
- In the Epic launcher settings, uncheck the "Throttle Downloads" option. Then set the value to something high like 10000000.
- Make sure your network adapter drivers are up to date. Outdated ones can cause slowdowns.
- Try changing your DNS servers to something faster, like Google's (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4).
- If all else fails, you can try editing the engine.ini file in the Epic Games folder to optimize some settings.
But yeah, Fortnite is a huge game so even with those tweaks it might still take a while. Be patient and let it do its thing overnight if needed. The slow speeds are annoying but pretty normal.
