How Genshin Impact Banners Function?

In the early stages of Genshin Impact, each version introduced new character banners featuring two exclusive characters, with each version comprising two phases.

Initially, each phase lasted 21 days and featured a single banner.

As the roster of characters expanded and players requested reruns of older characters, miHoYo introduced a second banner per phase.

Now, each phase includes two exclusive characters. The pity system is shared across banners, so if you have 40 pity and make a wish on one banner, your next wish on the other will be counted as your 41st wish.

Each Genshin Impact version typically spans approximately 42 days, split evenly between the two character banner phases. Each phase lasts for 21 days, or about three weeks.

However, there have been exceptions, such as extended periods where players faced delays due to unforeseen events, like the Covid outbreak in China, which caused the Ayaka banner to remain active for an extended time.

The weapon banners function separately, each featuring its own set of signature weapons for the characters in that phase.

The permanent banner remains unchanged throughout these updates.
