Cross-play is possible in Battlefield 2042, but there are certain limits.
Cross-platform play in Battlefield 2042 is a big deal for PS5 and PS4 players because it’s a free PS Plus game for March 2023. However, there’s no single-player campaign in the game, so it’s all about multiplayer modes.
While cross-play is possible, not everyone can connect due to some restrictions. If you’re curious about who you can team up with in battles, here’s the scoop on cross-platform play in Battlefield 2042.
What cross-platform choices does Battlefield 2042 offer?
Battlefield 2042 allows cross-platform play, but there are limits due to technical differences between consoles. Current-gen consoles and PC support 128-player battles, while previous-gen consoles only support 64-player matches.
This means PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC players can play together, but PS4 and Xbox One players can only play with each other. Different modes aren’t compatible across generations, so PS5 and PS4 players can’t team up.
If Battlefield 2042 live players prefer not to play with others from different platforms, they can turn off cross-platform play. To do this, go to the main menu, select Accessibility & Options, then General, and toggle the Cross-play option.
Keep in mind, that you can’t change this setting while in a group, matchmaking, or on a server, and it won’t override the restrictions between console generations.
What Do We Think?
I think cross-platform play in Battlefield 2042 will be popular, especially for PS5 and PC gamers. It’s cool that we can all play together. But I heard there are limits. Like, PS4 and Xbox One players can only play with each other.
And you can’t change cross-play settings while in a group or matchmaking. But still, it’s great that we have this option to play with friends on different consoles.
