Zenless Zone Zero Tier List

Qingyi has been newly added to the tier list. As a versatile Stun Character, Qingyi brings several strengths to the table. Her team passive activates in the presence of an Attack Character.

Her core ability enhances Daze Damage by 80% against enemies. Her Basic Attack 3 also gathers enemies, which is crucial for Shiyu’s Defense.

These attributes make Qingyi one of the most well-rounded characters available.

The tier list for Zenless Zone Zero, a cross-platform game, ranks characters according to their effectiveness in the core gameplay, specifically Shiyu Defense.

Shiyu Defense

It represents a late-game combat challenge. Players must eliminate all enemies within a specified timeframe.

Performance is evaluated based on the remaining time, with better ratings leading to superior rewards, such as Polychrome, Investigation Merits (a currency for purchasing valuable items at Scott Outpost), and Denny.

Shiyu Defense

The Shiyu Defense has two parts: the Critical Node and the Stable Node. The Stable Node is permanent, with rewards available only once.

In contrast, the Critical Node is refreshed and updated periodically.

This tier serves as a guide to identifying the most compelling characters for conquering Shiyu Defense.

Zenless Zone Zero ZZZ Characters

Anton

Anton

Anton’s distinct ability enables him to inflict an extra 45% Shock damage after every five critical hits while in Burst mode.

When paired with a strong buildup character like Grace, Anton’s direct attacks synergize with additional shock damage, allowing him to deliver substantial damage quickly and making Anton effective for short-cycle DPS bursts.

Anton generates extra Shock damage but depends on Ex-Special and requires the target to be shocked to maximize his damage fully.

Billy

As the sole pure ranged character among the initial trio, Billy’s gameplay focuses on ease of use, nimble movements, and staying out of reach from powerful foes.

His combo is distinctive, as the latter part of his crouching shot can be extended indefinitely by holding down the Basic Attack button. This mechanism also boosts the damage of his crouching shot.

Billy

Although the damage output logic is simple, Billy’s performance could be stronger, placing him at a lower damage output ceiling and less suited for extreme damage challenges.

Nevertheless, his low operational difficulty and safe attack range make him a reliable choice in challenging stages.

He is easy to operate and fully ranged, but his damage output is meager.

Corin

Corin maximizes the Daze mechanism to enhance her damage output. Her Ex-Special boasts an exceptionally high damage multiplier, even exceeding the ultimates of many characters.

This standout ability establishes her as the top short-cycle physical burst main DPS among current A Rank characters.

Corin

While her skills feature strong multipliers, Corin’s damage output is sluggish and heavily dependent on energy, limiting her effectiveness mainly to burst windows during imbalances.

Corin’s skill multipliers are outstanding but highly dependent on her Ex-Special with slow damage action.

Grace

Grace is central to the Shock team and is crucial for generating Electric buildup.

Her skills, which have high frequency and efficiency, enable her to trigger Shocking rapidly, making her indispensable to the Electro team and ensuring continuous Electro buildup.

Grace

Grace’s advantages include her Special skill as the primary method for buildup, with a remarkably brief action time of just 30 frames.

She excels in buildup efficiency, contributing over 60% compared to other Electro characters and does not depend on Ult or Ex abilities. Currently, no notable drawbacks are evident.

Koleda

Koleda boasts the most powerful burst Stun ability among characters.

She efficiently puts small enemies into a Daze state and consistently triggers QTEs for allies, making her the quickest burst stun character available.

Koleda

Koleda has a powerful burst Stun. However, she often requires pairing with Ben, which limits team combinations.

Additionally, she lacks the support features found in Lycaon.

Lucy

Lucy’s distinctive support mode features a semi-permanent auto-combat pig squad that activates once and provides ongoing attack boosts through hands-free skills.

This setup allows Lucy to enhance her teammates’ damage while contributing her own.

As a versatile attack support, Lucy excels in quick clears and remains effective regardless of the environment or team composition.

Lucy

After activating her Special, her pig squad continues to fight whether Lucy is on- or off-field.

While Lucy’s buffs rely on her ATK, they have a cap of 600, which is 400 less than Soukaku’s.

The buffs are calculated as a percentage of ATK plus a fixed amount, meaning any weapon with an attack main stat can reach this cap.

Lucy has minimal requirements for Main Stats and Sub Stats and provides some damage output. As a support character, her buffs can be limited.

Lycaon

Lycaon primarily uses Charged Attacks to stun enemies, offering a reliable and consistent approach.

This method makes Lycaon a dependable choice for challenging battles and extended engagements on the battlefield.

Lycaon’s strengths include her Charged Attack as the main stun method, which does not depend on EX or Ultimate abilities.

Lycaon

She provides valuable damage support by reducing enemy Ice resistance and increasing their vulnerability during the Daze period.

However, her overall damage output is relatively low, contributing only a tiny fraction of the team’s total damage.

Nekomata

Nekomata stands out for her exceptional speed in Zenless Zone Zero. Her fast and agile combos, immediate skill activation, and unique wide-range Ultimate and QTE set her apart.

This combination of speed and area coverage gives Nekomata a unique combat style, making her ideal as a burst-type quick-swap main or sub DPS with an extremely agile playstyle.

Nekomata

Nekomata delivers rapid attacks and excels with her large-area AoE capabilities. She is highly effective in quick-swap DPS roles.

Her performance as a main DPS and against single targets could be stronger.

Piper

As the second Anomaly character introduced in the game, Piper has reinvigorated the Physical team and activated the Disorder team.

She excels at enhancing teammates’ damage while effectively building up Physical Anomaly, making her an exceptionally versatile character for physical status.

Piper

Piper boasts impressive efficiency in building physical status and offers damage boosts to the entire team. Currently, no significant drawbacks are noted.

Soukaku’s

His slow attacks and lack of agility make him less effective in fast-paced combat.

Nonetheless, his distinctive Banner skill transfers attack boosts to teammates and enhances the team’s Ice DMG, positioning Soukaku as a versatile Ice-type attack support and an excellent partner for Ellen.

Soukaku's

Soukaku offers extensive buffs and is Ellen’s top support. However, his mobility is quite limited.

Rina

Rina’s distinctive ability to provide buffs through her doll, along with the combined effects of her core and team passives, enables her to support the team in multiple ways, such as extending Shock duration, enhancing PEN Ratio, and boosting Shock damage.

Additionally, because her abilities are tied to her doll, Rina can be off the field to be effective. This makes her a versatile support character who primarily operates off-field.

Lina’s PEN Ratio buff benefits all characters and is hard to exceed.

Rina

In addition to enhancing the PEN Ratio, she extends Shock duration and boosts Shock damage, providing comprehensive support.

Minimal equipment is needed; maintaining her cycle and full support is typically enough. However, Lina does not contribute any direct damage output.

Soldier 11

Soldier 11 is the sole Fire attribute Attack character in the launch version.

Her fire blade delivers consistent damage with a straightforward output mechanism.

Through her skills, chain, or ultimate, she can enhance fire damage for the next eight Basic Attacks.

By managing the timing of her Basic Attacks and activating the fire blade mechanism effectively, she can maintain a strong damage output in various situations.

Soldier 11

However, the damage from these attacks is heavily focused on the fourth hit, making it vulnerable to interruption.

The fire attributes Basic Attack damage constitutes nearly 50% of her total output.

The character is user-friendly and delivers substantial damage, making it ideal for newcomers. Entering burst mode is straightforward.

Damage is focused primarily on the 4th enhanced Basic Attack, and interruptions can significantly diminish overall damage output.

Qingyi

She is a stun character who uses her skill to build up “Flash Connect Voltage.”

Once this voltage exceeds 75%, she can perform an enhanced Charged Attack that inflicts Daze on enemies.

This enhanced attack also applies a debuff that amplifies the damage enemies receive during the Daze effect.

Qingyi

Qingyi’s strengths include her easily triggered team passive, making her versatile across various team compositions.

She provides up to an 80% boost to Daze damage and can pull enemies together effectively. Qingyi does not depend on Ex Specials to inflict Daze, unlike many other characters.

There are virtually no significant drawbacks to Qingyi.

Zhu Yuan

A burst damage character who primarily gains ‘Enhanced Shotshells’ through Defensive Counter, Chain, Ex-Special, and Ultimate abilities.

By holding the Basic Attack button, Zhu Yuan utilizes ‘Enhanced Shotshells’ to execute enhanced Ether attacks.

Zhu Yuan

Zhu Yuan excels with short, high burst damage and boasts the highest Ultimate damage multiplier in version 1.0.

However, managing damage output can be complex due to the need to strategize based on the number of available Enhanced Shotshells, making her operation somewhat challenging.
