How To Change Username In Apex Legends?

If you play Apex Legends on PC, you can change your username using Steam or Origin. Console players need to change their gamertag or online ID. 

Unfortunately, Nintendo Switch players can’t change names without making a new account. This guide will help you change your Apex Legends username on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.

Using Steam to Change Your Username

• Open Steam, which you can get for Windows and Mac. Using Steam, you can change your Apex Name to anything, even if it’s not unique.
• Click on your username located at the top-right corner. This action will open a drop-down menu.
• Click “View my profile.” This action will open your profile page, showing your Steam activity.
• Click “Edit Profile,” located on the right side of the page, under your Steam level.
• Type in a new profile name. This name shows up on Steam and cannot be hidden. It can be anything you like, but it must follow Steam’s Community Guidelines.
• If you’re not already on the General tab, click on it in the left panel to go there.
• Your profile name is not the same as your Steam ID, which is a unique identifier for your account.
• Click “Save,” the blue button at the bottom of the page. You might have to scroll down to see it. Your new name will be saved.
• When you play Apex Legends again, your new name will show up.

Using Origin to Change Your Username

• Sign in to your EA Account using a web browser. Input your email address and password, then click “Sign in.”
• If you play Apex Legends through Origin, you need to change your name on the EA website. You’re only allowed to change your ID once every 72 hours.
• Select “About Me,” located on the left side of the page.
• Beside “Basic Information,” click “Edit.” This will open a new window.
• Sometimes, you might need to confirm your identity before editing your settings. If so, click “Send Security Code” and enter the code sent to your registered email.
• Input a new ID. Use the ID field to delete your current EA ID and enter a new one.
• This ID must be unique. If it’s already used, you can’t save it.
• Click “Save,” the button at the bottom-right corner.
• Your Apex Legends name will update.

Using PlayStation 4 or 5 to Change Your Username

• Open the Settings menu, indicated by the cog icon.
• To change your Apex Legends name on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5, you’ll need to alter your PlayStation online ID. This is the name seen in all PlayStation games.
• Remember, changing your online ID might affect some games. You can check the official list of issues on the PlayStation website.
• Choose “Users and Accounts,” located under Network.
• On PlayStation 4, this option will appear as “Account Management.”
• Choose “Accounts,” the first option.
• On PlayStation 4, it will appear as “Account Information.”
• Choose “Profile,” located under Wallet.
• Choose “Online ID,” found under Name.
• Choose “I Accept.” You need to agree to the terms to change your online ID.
• Input a new online ID. Suggestions will appear in the bottom-right corner. The first name change is free, but you’ll need to pay $9.99 for subsequent changes.
• Make sure to choose a unique online ID not already in use.
• Choose “Confirm.” This action finalizes the name change. It might take up to a week for your new name to show up and synchronize across games.

Using Xbox to Change Your Username

• Press the Xbox button to open the menu.
• To alter your Apex Legends name on Xbox One or Xbox Series X, you’ll need to change your gamertag. This is the name seen in all Xbox games.
• Choose “Profile and System,” located on the right end of the menu.
• Choose your gamertag, located at the top of the menu.
• Choose “My profile.” This action will open a new page.
• Choose “Customize profile,” located below your activity status.
• Choose your gamertag, which will be on the left side of the page.
• Input a new gamertag. You can use up to 12 characters, but it must be unique.
• The first gamertag change is free, but subsequent changes require a payment of $9.99.
• Choose “Change gamertag.” This action finalizes the name change. It might take up to a week for your new name to show up and synchronize across games.
