Square Enix has delighted Nintendo fans with an unexpected announcement – Life is Strange: Double Exposure is heading to the Nintendo Switch on November 19, 2024. This latest installment in the beloved narrative adventure series brings a mature Max Caulfield back into the spotlight.

A New Kind of Power

Unlike her time-bending abilities in the original Life is Strange, Max now wields the power to traverse between alternate realities. This fresh mechanic drives the story as players investigate the mysterious death of Max’s friend, Safiya Llewellyn-Fayyad, at the Vermont College of Arts and Sciences.

Release Details

The game’s launch schedule looks like this:

  • Digital Release: November 19, 2024
  • Physical Edition: January 28, 2025
  • Currently Available: PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), PS5, Xbox Series

Mixed Reception and New Setting

Since its October release on other platforms, Double Exposure has garnered mixed reviews on Steam. The game takes a bold step by setting its story in an academic environment, with Max now working at the Vermont College of Arts and Sciences.

Reality-Hopping Mystery

Players will need to:

  • Handle multiple realities
  • Track events across different timelines
  • Uncover the truth behind Safiya’s murder
  • Make choices that impact various versions of reality

The Nintendo Switch version promises to bring this reality-bending adventure to handheld players, allowing them to unravel the mystery wherever they go. While initial access will be digital-only, collectors can look forward to adding a physical copy to their libraries early next year.
