Sony has announced that LittleBigPlanet 3 and all its downloadable content (DLC) will be delisted from the PlayStation Store on October 31. This move marks the end of an era for the creative platformer series.
What We Know
LittleBigPlanet 3, released in 2014 for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, will no longer be available for purchase after the end of this month. However, players who own or buy the game before its removal will still have access to it and any previously purchased DLC.
The Background
This decision is partially unexpected. The game’s servers and other titles in the series were taken offline due to persistent attacks and technical issues. These server shutdowns significantly impacted the game’s community-driven content creation and sharing features, central to its appeal.
The Future of the Franchise
While LittleBigPlanet 3’s delisting marks the end of this particular chapter, the franchise continues in a different form. The series’ iconic character Sackboy lives on in the spin-off title Sackboy: A Big Adventure.
What’s Next for the Developers
Media Molecule, the studio behind the LittleBigPlanet series, has moved on to new ventures. They’re currently working on an unannounced project, sparking curiosity among fans of their innovative game design approach.
Removing LittleBigPlanet 3 from the PlayStation Store signifies the closing of a significant chapter in PlayStation history. It leaves behind a legacy of creativity and community-driven content that influenced many games that followed.
