This game is a multiplayer free-to-play first-person video title developed and published by co-founders Ian Proulx and Nicholas Bagamian.
The developers started working on the game as a project while attending Stanford University. It was originally released in early 2019 for Linux and Microsoft Windows on Steam. And in 2021 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
It revolves around Halo-inspired sci-fi combat in battle arenas where players can create portals between two places on the map. The theatre has been compared to those of the Portal series, and fire weapons or travel through portals in the game.
A console release for the game was considered another release, as the gameplay and style were overhauled compared to the original.
*Splitgate’s user count could fluctuate more than average do to sudden popularity and overloaded game servers, but higher accuracy counting should be resolved soon.
The free-to-play title was on Steam, and the developer continued to work on the game post-release. More About Splitgate.
