Six stones before anything happens

The gauntlet is a clay prop with six stones pushed into it, and the snap button does not work straight away, and that is deliberate. Tap the stones one at a time and watch the gauntlet light up, or skip the ceremony with the collect all button. Only at six does the main action unlock.

Then it takes exactly half. Not a fixed set, a fresh random half every time, going one at a time with about a tenth of a second between each, each one blowing apart into violet and white specks that drift up and to the right before fading.

The disintegration itself

Every card that goes gets around thirty four particles thrown from random points inside its own outline, with a slight upward drift and gravity pulling them back down as they thin out. The card blurs and slides at the same time. Line those two things up and you get the effect people came for.

Reversing it brings everything back in a staggered cascade, which is oddly more satisfying than the snap itself.

Dust every last one

The nuclear option ignores the fifty percent rule and clears the board completely. Sixteen cards vanishing in sequence takes about a second and a half and looks considerably better than the half snap. Nothing stops you doing it repeatedly.

Why the query never dies
