One of the most successful role-playing video game franchises of all time is Fallout. Yet Fallout 5 has barely been discussed, except in hushed rumors. In the text below, we discuss all the possibilities surrounding the game.

You will already know that Fallout 5 still needs an official release announcement, but you can bank on its release. You will know it as the successful gaming franchise. Its studios, Bethesda, have alluded to it on several occasions. With speculation high, we discuss the potential for Fallout 5 and what may be included.

The Release Date

The biggest rumor is the actual release date for the game. It was speculated that it would be much sooner than anticipated and coincide with the release of the television series. However, the first installment of that has come and gone so it seems unlikely developers Bethesda are rushing things to fit scheduling requirements.

One way to gauge a release date is by the studio’s schedule. One major title stands before a Fallout release, and that is the next Elder Scrolls installment.

This will be part six of the much-loved fantasy epic. It is expected this will be completed in 2026. Todd Howard, director and producer at Bethesda, is on record as saying that it takes five years to create a Fallout Title. This would suggest that you can expect Fallout 5 in 2031, which does seem like a lifetime away.

Multiplayer Modes

In 2015 Todd Howard discussed multiplayer modes at Bethesda. The company designs these for every title the studio handles. Not all make it to release. A single-player experience has always been the Fallout way. In Fallout 76 a multiplayer experience was attempted. You may have played the game and notived that it was not a hit. In fact, it was a huge commercial fail for the studio. So will they go back to the original idea?

Fallout 76 had poor narratives. This was highlighted by fans. This made single-player and multiplayer boring. It is probably more to do with this than the multiplayer alone that made it a flop. The studio has a choice: Do they retry a multiplayer mode and make sure they have great storytelling and roleplay to back it up? Or do they include heaps more single-player content?

It seems most likely that they will opt for the second. In an interview with German website GameStar, Todd Howard was asked about multiplayer modes. According to him, social features will be included. For the moment, their games will be single player.

Engaging Mini-Games

Mini-games are an essential part of the experience. These are as important as the story modes and titles, particularly for people who enjoy a game of chance. They include amusing titles to play on the pip boy to lock picking.

Its selection of casino games were part of the allure. You could play them across the wasteland. They included blackjack, roulette, and slots. Their inclusion coincided with the popularity of online casinos. Since then, they have carried on this, bringing in new elements, including crash gaming and live gameshow-style slots. In fact, the rise of no verification casinos, known for offering quick access and fast gameplay, makes the inclusion of these modern casino games even more relevant.

Bethesda could increase its provisions of casino minigames to mimic this real-world trend. A crash gaming event would be a fantastic edition. It would fit in with the game lore perfectly and be fun for players.

The title also has its own card game known as Caravan. This is played with traders throughout the Mojave wasteland. A deck must consist of at least thirty cards which the player must amass. However, a lot more could be made of this, much like Gwent in the Witcher series. Particularly if they already have fans from the casino mini-games.

The Location

Fallout always takes place in a US State. Las Vegas has been the most successful with fans so far. There have also been plenty of in-game hints as to where other enclaves exist. Chicago has been briefly visited and mentioned, as has Alaska. Most of the games have taken place in California, with the recent television series being set in LA.

The biggest clue lies in a trademark application from 2016. This was filed to the EU Intellectual Property Office. It was simply for ‘Fallout New Orleans’. By no means does this mean that the company will use it, but the architecture and swamp-like locations in the deep South would make for a great title.

Finally, it could even be set outside the United States. There are plenty of global cities that could make great locations. This could see a move to Europe, Asia or Russia.

Bethesda will undoubtedly revisit Fallout. The last few installments, particularly with Fallout 76, have not been great. Fans were less than impressed after much anticipation. It was also a financial flop. Bethesda will not want this on their hands again. They’ll need to have it complete on release. They will also need to give the fans great storytelling and exciting mini-games.  Then Fallout can regain its fandom.
