For a licensed online casino or sportsbook in the United States, Paysafe can be five things at once. It can be the card acquirer and gateway, the Skrill and Neteller wallets, the cash option through PaysafeCard and PaysafeCash, the pay by bank rail and the payout route.
None of the seven alternatives here replaces every one of those pieces. Each one takes over some of them and leaves the rest where they are.
So the first step is a count. Before looking at any provider, an operator needs its own deposits and withdrawals broken down by method for a recent period. Those numbers show which Paysafe pieces handle the most money and which could move first.
What Paysafe Covers for US Operators?
Deposit Methods Paysafe Handles
Card deposits run through Paysafe’s own acquiring and gateway services, including the Paysafe Gateway, which the company says it built specifically for iGaming.
In the United States, its card-processing companies are registered with several sponsor banks as independent sales organizations. Banks use that category for firms that sell and service card processing under the bank’s card network membership.
Next to cards, Paysafe offers its Skrill and Neteller wallets, plus PaysafeCard and PaysafeCash for players who want to pay with cash.
It launched a Pay by Bank option for US iGaming in 2024 and offers crypto payments where permitted. Each of these is a separate piece that a replacement has to cover or leave in place.
Paysafe Payouts and Withdrawals
Paysafe offers instant payouts for iGaming. Each deposit method also needs a way back to the player, so when an operator moves a method away from Paysafe, the withdrawal route for that method has to move as well.
The common payout routes are bank payouts, wallet payouts and push-to-card payouts, which send funds straight to a player’s debit card through the card networks.
The providers below differ most on which of these routes they run themselves. One that takes deposits without running the matching payout route leaves Paysafe in place for withdrawals.
1. Nuvei
Nuvei replaces the card-acquiring and gateway piece and adds a cashier on top of it. Its cashier supports one-click deposits and quick deposits during in-play betting, so a player can add funds while a game is still in progress.
On the withdrawal side, Nuvei sends instant withdrawals over the RTP network, a real-time system that settles bank transfers within seconds. Each withdrawal is authenticated through Plaid. An operator ends up with a card deposit route and a bank payout route from the same provider.
Because Nuvei also handles bank transfers for deposits, an operator can move its card volume and part of its Pay by Bank volume in one project instead of two.
Paysafe’s crypto piece has a counterpart as well. Nuvei supports crypto pay-ins and payouts in nearly 40 cryptocurrencies, though it doesn’t say which of them work for US gaming.
Its pricing and the list of states where it supports operators today both come in a proposal.
2. Trustly
Trustly takes over the Pay by Bank piece and a large share of the payout side. Deposits come straight from a player’s bank account, and withdrawals return the same way.
Trustly has sent more than $25 billion in instant payouts over the RTP network, FedNow and same-day ACH. An operator whose players already withdraw to bank accounts through Paysafe can match those players to whichever of the three routes their bank supports.
Card acquiring is the one Paysafe piece Trustly doesn’t touch. Card deposits either stay with Paysafe or move to one of the card providers on this list.
3. Worldpay
Worldpay stands in for Paysafe’s card-acquiring piece and is built for high card volume. It can process up to 1,200 transactions a second. Sportsbooks need that headroom, because deposits arrive in bursts around major games.
Worldpay sells acquiring, fraud and payout products, so the card side and its related tools can move together. It also offers Dynamic Routing and Worldpay Optimize, which cover routing and credential management. An operator leaving the Paysafe Gateway keeps a routing option on the same account.
Worldpay offers nothing in place of Skrill, Neteller, PaysafeCard or PaysafeCash, and its gaming pricing is quoted per operator.
4. Finix
Finix is another way to replace Paysafe’s card piece, and it takes the payout route along with it. Finix handles deposits and payouts on one platform and routes each deposit to raise the chance it’s approved. Winnings go to players’ debit cards through Visa Direct and Mastercard Send, or to their bank accounts by next-day ACH.
That pairing lets an operator move card deposits and the matching card withdrawals off Paysafe in the same step.
Instant payouts of an operator’s own settlement funds are a different matter. Finix usually leaves high-risk merchants out of that product, which also caps applications at $10,000 a day and $50,000 a month.
5. PayNearMe
PayNearMe covers the cash role that PaysafeCard and PaysafeCash play, and then adds several other ways to pay through one integration. Players can pay cash at more than 62,000 US retail locations, and a cash payment can’t be reversed or charged back once it’s made.
The same integration takes cards, bank transfers and mobile wallets, and Cash App Pay is among the wallet options, so an operator that moves its cash deposits here can send some card and wallet deposits the same way.
Payouts also run through PayNearMe, reaching debit cards and digital wallets in near real time, or bank accounts overnight by ACH. Its pricing is quoted per operator.
6. Sightline Payments
Sightline Payments stands in for the wallet role that Skrill and Neteller play. Its Sightline Prepaid account, also called Play+, can be funded by credit and debit cards, bank transfers, PayPal or cash loads. Players use the same account to deposit and to receive winnings across slots, tables, sportsbook, iGaming and lottery.
Players can also carry that balance on Sightline Debit, a Visa card they can spend anywhere Visa is taken. Sightline runs wallet, prepaid and debit programs and does no card acquiring, so it works next to a card processor and does not replace one.
7. Pavilion Payments
Pavilion Payments replaces the Pay by Bank piece through its VIP Preferred ACH network, which players can use at more than 100 online gaming sites.
Players who deposit that way can get their winnings back in real time through its instant payment service. Pavilion doesn’t process cards for online play.
Replacing Paysafe One Piece at a Time
The card-acquiring piece is the largest move, because a new acquirer has to underwrite the operator before any card volume shifts. Bank and cash rails can usually be added beside Paysafe first, which lets an operator compare approval and withdrawal times on live traffic before it changes the card processor.
Each moved deposit method needs its payout route ready on the same day it goes live, so players who deposited through the new provider can withdraw through it as well.
Every provider here quotes gaming rates per operator, and the method count from the start is what each proposal should be priced against. If that count shows most deposits arriving by card and most withdrawals leaving by bank, for example, a bank provider can take over payouts first and the card piece can move last.
