Microsoft has drawn from its vast game library to create an even better Teams app. As a first rollout, an app called Icebreakers can help teams become better acquainted with each other.

But that’s not all. Microsoft has announced adding fun casual gaming apps to its Teams chat and phone services. Solitaire will also be included as an icebreaker game made by Microsoft for use within teams.

Games Can Help With Collaboration

Microsoft is trying to position Teams as the premier collaboration tool. It has expanded its reach by making it available on the most popular devices, and desktop applications like SAP have built integration tools.

By adding games, the company tries to bring joy into the equation and hopefully strengthen ties between employees working from different locations. For example, employees can play a game of MineSweeper, a puzzle game where they click on each square to see if there’s an actual mine underneath.

Games are a familiar product for MS. They released the whole Xbox franchise, including the original Xbox One. They also have a host of ways to enjoy casual gaming. For instance, the classic Klondike game is included in the Microsoft Solitaire Collection.

With its new branding, Microsoft Teams Games for work is hoping to get executives to sign up for an expanded version of Office 365, which represents 23 percent of the company’s overall revenue.

Microsoft is even considering games as a potential way for kids to improve their cognitive ability. A Microsoft spokesperson cited a study showing that playing games improved children’s cognitive skills compared to those who didn’t.

Microsoft Teams Games For Work Was A Popular Request

After Microsoft released Office 2016, it added a word-finding puzzle app, Wordament. It was initially designed by two Microsoft staff members who wanted to play board games with their spouses but ended up creating an addictive word-searching puzzle instead. The app has been downloaded one million times on Android devices.

“We’ve been listening to our fans’ requests for years now, so when they asked us to bring back the game, we did.” and further said the IceBreaker idea was trendy.

Minesweeper, Solitare, Wordament, and Icebreakers are among the new game titles coming to Microsoft Teams in early 2020, according to an email sent by chief executive Satya Nadella to employees. Download now to begin playing the new Microsoft Teams games for work online.
