Sega Mini Hack? Mega Drive Fans Are Asking For More
SEGA Mega Drive Mini 2 launches with a vast retro feel, and it has fans asking for more nostalgic Dreamcast consoles, and what about hacks?
If you’re interested in buying a new console for yourself, Sega has just announced that it’s releasing its second Mega Drive Mini (Genesis unit) in limited stock around the globe.
If you’re interested in seeing more Sega minis like Dreamcast in the near term, you might want to check out Sega’s recent survey asking fans what other mini consoles they’d like to play.
At the end of last year, Sega’s classic hardware production chief Yosuke Okunari revealed how his company had considered releasing mini versions of its original consoles. Still, the main problem at the time was manufacturing costs because of the coronavirus outbreak.
If Sega released more mini consoles, what would you like them to be called? And further, would you want a Sega mini hack or at least support for mods if they released one?
Sega thinks its “super game” could bank over 600 million dollars. It’s targeting release by the fiscal year ending March 2026. Sega veteran and industry legend Rieko Kodama has passed away. She was known for her RPGs like Skies of Arcadias and Phantasy Star. Sonic Team head and Sonic frontiers and breath of the wild are not similar. They see Breath of the Wild as a role-playing game.
Sega Mini Drive Hack Was Not Needed For Emulation
Sega partnered with an emulator company for this release, making this console version one of the most powerful ever made. It includes some new features but also has some improvements over previous models.
The Mega Drive Genesis Mini 2 is not all that different from its predecessor in terms of footprint. It has the same cart slot and features two USB-A sockets on the front, a Micro USB port (for power), and a full-sized HDMI port on the back. It’s a shame Sega opted for the older USB-B connector instead of, the newer USB-C one, but that’s a minor gripe.
The power button and the “Resets” option are on the top, and if you’re looking closely enough, you’ll notice that there aren’t any grilles in between, meaning no red light to show when the system is turned on.
When playing, there are different wallpapers available for you to use. If you don’t want to see any black bars at the top and bottom of the screen, you can stretch the image to fill the entire screen. Also, we recommend not choosing the CRT filter because it produces uneven lines across the screen and causes the picture to appear dark and blurry.
Before that, look at the new Genesis Mini console cartridge list below. It’s packed with awesome games, so don’t worry about missing out on any classics; they are all there.
Apart from the standard cartridge and CD release, Sega has also released a few games that were never available. These include a Breakout-style puzzle game called Devi & Piis, supervised by Sonic 3’s Takashiro Iizuka, and a mobile version of Star Mobile.

It includes twice as many games as the original version and comes at a price point that’s significantly lower than the original. But it does have fans asking for more and hacks, of course!
